Working with sections from the sitemap

Understanding Page Sections

Page sections are the individual content blocks that make up each page in your sitemap. They represent the different areas of content on your webpage, such as headers, hero sections, feature lists, testimonials, footers, and more. Managing these sections effectively is crucial for organizing your content and streamlining your design process.

Section Management Overview

Each section in your sitemap can be individually controlled and customized. Sections appear as small boxes beneath each page in your sitemap hierarchy, and they directly correspond to the content blocks you'll see when you enter the canvas view.

Core Section Controls

Changing Section Status and Color

  • Click the section box to open the status dropdown
  • Select a color to visually indicate the section's progress
  • Choose a status that matches your workflow (e.g., "To Do," "In Progress," "Done")
  • Status changes are reflected immediately across your entire project

Editing Section Names

  1. Locate the edit button next to the section name
  2. Click the edit icon (pencil icon)
  3. Type the new name for your section
  4. Press Enter to save the changes
  5. Name changes will be reflected in both sitemap and canvas views

Navigating to Canvas

  • Click the "Edit" button on the right side of any section
  • Direct navigation takes you straight to that specific section in the canvas
  • Seamless workflow between planning (sitemap) and creation (canvas)

Section Organization

Drag and Drop Reordering

  • Click and hold any section box
  • Drag the section up or down to reorder
  • Release to drop in the new position
  • Canvas synchronization: Changes immediately reflect in the canvas layout
  • Visual feedback: Sections show drop zones while dragging

Benefits of Reordering

  • Logical flow: Arrange sections in the order users will see them
  • Content hierarchy: Place most important sections first
  • Design planning: Structure layout before detailed content creation

Adding Sections Manually

Quick Section Addition

  1. Navigate to the bottom of any page's section list
  2. Click "Add Section" button
  3. Name your section immediately after creation
  4. Set status and color as needed

Strategic Manual Planning

This approach is particularly valuable when you:

  • Know exactly what content each page needs
  • Want to plan comprehensively before content creation
  • Need to map out complex page structures
  • Are working with a team and need clear section definitions

Workflow Benefits

  • Fast site planning: Quickly outline entire site structure
  • Team coordination: Clear section definitions for collaborators
  • Content strategy: Plan before creating detailed content
  • Handoff preparation: Provide clear structure for designers or developers
